negative space:  the shape around an object.  the imprint your body leaves in thin air.  it's kind of like a shadow.  or an optical illusion:

negative space is also energetic: it can be felt. And it can be seen.  The shapes we made in the alleyway outside the studio with twine highlighted negative space.  The dance we created from our selected objects emerged in part from aligning our bodies to the space around the shape created by our partner.
